‘ONE WORLD: TOGETHER AT HOME’

Updated: Jan 15, 2022

Many parents are having a hard time to make sure their children receive the education they need.

The world unites to combat the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Global Citizen and the World Health Organization (WHO) have announced the One World: Together At Home global special in support of the fight against COVID-19.

As a young Global Citizen Visionary, I have witnessed first hand the coronavirus pandemic bring the world to its knees. Schools all over the world are closed; Governments have slowed down their operations; Businesses are making losses; Everyone is stuck at home and practicing social distancing; There is no more travel from country to country. Thank God my family is all on one place when this struck otherwise I don’t know what I would do so far away from my family.. Children are at home with their parents for long hours its hard to keep us entertained. Many parents are having a hard time to make sure their children receive the education they need. One thing though is that there is no known effects of the Corona Virus to pets I am not sure whether to be relieved or sad about it.

The main question I am asking myself is what can I do in this time?

I spend a lot of time on the internet Looking at how the world is dealing with the Covid-19 situation. I have been happy to note that despite the setback in free movement a lot of activity has turned Digital. One such is the One World: Together At Home curated by Global Citizen together with Lady Gaga. This event will have over 70+ artists participating.

It’s an event set to be broadcast live on Saturday, April 18, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on ABC, NBC, ViacomCBS Networks, and iHeartMedia, as well as Bell Media networks and platforms in Canada. Internationally, BBC One will run the program on Sunday, April 19, with additional international broadcasters including beIN Media Group, MultiChoice Group, and RTE.

Now, the One World: Together At Home global broadcast will go even bigger, reaching even more people, and driving even more action to support the World Health Organization and the global fight to end COVID-19 with music and more.

All this excites me because I see the role that I can play very clearly. As a young Global Citizen Visionary I have made the pledge to stay at home. I will continue to spread awareness on what steps we can take to stop COVID-19. I will also use my voice and my resources to encourage other people to join me especially my peers.

To date, Global Citizens from more than 130 countries around the world have taken tens of thousands of actions in support of the Solidarity Response Fund. So far this Global special has raised $35 million. We are hoping to raise more.

The virtual broadcast will show unity among all people who are affected by COVID-19, as well as celebrating and supporting the brave frontline health care workers around the world who are doing incredible, life-saving work.

Watch out for more updates!
